I'd like to make the drive up to the twin lakes in Whatcom county, Near Mt. Baker. Does anyone know if these lakes hold fish? I've also heard of fish up near artist's point on Mt. Baker. Is this a worthwhile trip? Has any one caught fish at these lakes?

There are brook trout in all of these: The Twin Lakes (the last l.5 miles is rough; the prudent park at the Tomyhoi Lake/Gold Run Pass trailhead and walk it.) The Bagley Lakes: two little ponds almost next to the road above the ski area, before the switchbacks to Artist Point; and the four Galena Chain Lakes, a 3-mile hike to the other side of Table Mt. from the Artist Point parking lot. The Galena lakes are favorites of mine: extremely scenic, and just far enough for good exercise.

Thank you! I have been to all of the lakes, and wanted to fish them. I'll have to plan a trip up there soon!

Used to picnic and fish at Twin Lakes about 10 years ago. Good but rough road getting to the lakes. I always fished the upper lake and fished from shore. Lots of small brookies that would take dry flies cast along the shoreline.

just up there today on a 'scouting' trip... planning a real trip next weekend.
tried a few weekends ago in the fiancee's honda accord... didn't make it very far past the trail head, definitely either take a car you can beat on, or find something high clearance (saw a honda element make it). today I fixed and took the 4runner.
lots of takes at a grasshopper pattern, but nothing held tight, only spent 45 minutes or so.... awesome lake!

I made it up in my outback, although I did manage to crunch the bumper a bit.... We had lots of takes on dry flies although my wife outfished me 3 to 1. We then went to the chain lakes and caught a bunch of small brooks on dry flies. Pretty fun. My Uncle claims that he has seen some pretty large fish in one of the chain lakes....
