built at All About the Fly, Rons the best! you guys should definitely check out the rod building classes! so i took it for a test drive on the beach and it friggin ROCKED, the running line just kept going and going and:) 100+ easy, not joking! i had the AFS head on and i want to try the skagit next, then delta. i couldnt imagine it not being able to put a smile on my face as todays demo did. it has a fast action, with a very light feel. tried the 8/9, liked it, but i think im gonna grab another 7/8.

that 7/8 is a sick stick...ive been stealing Dawn's and taking it fishing recently...have you tried it with the elixir yet? good for throwing summer stuff, but throw on a 14ft poly and its even better- ive found it helps hold anchor on those nasty days when the wind is blowing your D loop so far downwind you cant feel shit for load. been real impressed with those beulahs though...i gotta see how youve built yours.

Sloan, you need to add Spey or Die on that hat for Rob.

Jeff is using that stick on the Klick right now I think. Hopefully it is helping with his steelhead mojo.

Bhudda,

How do you black out the cork? Did you buy it that way or stain it? It looks pretty cool.

Also - who makes the s-6 titanium guides.

I hope this doesn't lead to me believing I have to have another rod.

Great looking rod. So I dont have the best eyesight but the blank appears to be grey??? I have a few Beulahs and they are green? Did you alter the blank or is this just more confirmation that my eyesight is REALLY bad! Really like Beulahs rods and this rod may be my next build project. Good to hear some positives and again great looking rod. Kevin

There were some blanks that were mistakenly made that were not the traditional green. Beulah decided not to use them for their rods, for this reason. But they were perfectly good otherwise, so they were sold just as blanks for builds like this. I guess the discount price and one-time-only unique color caused them to sell-out uberfast.

Your not losing your eyesight .. Beulah had a few blanks that ended up matt grey instead of the traditional glossy green. Bummer. :).. -- (we like the gray finish too). We ended up with both the 12'7 7/8 and the 13'6" 8/9 blanks at the shop in the matte gray.

I have a rod similar to that one I think. I'm just trying to sort out which line to get. I'm thinking about an AFS or Delta. Which do you think might be better for beach casting?

cheers
