I am just wondering for those of you that went, how was it? I live on the the wet side and couldn't attend this year. I was swinging on Sun to no avail, but much of me wanted to go back to my familiar stomping grounds and swing on the CW. Pics anyone? :beer2:

No pics, but the clave was great. Lots of stuff to cast and a ton of info. Great food, a lot of people with a common interest, what could be better.

No photos (including the Spey Pages) as of a moment ago. That said, LOTS were taken, so watch this (or the 'Claves/other gatherings on the Spey Pages) shortly.

We stayed at Clearwater CrossinG RV Park. Main criteria, besides full hookups, Wi-Fi. :clown:
Keeps the other half occupied while I'm doing my thing. RV park is on the river. Also, backed up to RR tracks. Hello Fred  But, train only comes in once a week and the river cancels out highway sound on the other side. Poppy's place is only about 12 miles down the road. Lots of other stuff to check out. Maybe next year.

The clave itself weren't too shabby either. Although cookie monster didn't make it. Ms Red Shed's cookies did. Lickin' good!:thumb: Lots of stuff to see and try. I got to talk to the Clackacraft and the Hyde people. And got to row the Hyde down though a stretch of the river. Met a lot of nice people. Had a good sampling of Idaho culture. Game Xing. I could get into that.:beer2:

We may be persuaded to spend more time around the CW area, rather than Smithers next year.

Charlie, look at the numbers coming over Granite. It's not trout fishing. Success depends on numbers of fish in the system and fish willing to play.

Fred,

Great pictures. Did you try that Zpey rod? Just couldn't bring myself to try it. My wife did notice the number of women that were there throwing line. She was starting to think she was the only one with two handed rods.

REE,
Fred wasn't at the Idaho gathering and the pictures are not his. They were shot by Paul Jacobsen. See the last entry of this link http://www.speypages.com/speyclave/showthread.php?p=189899#post189899. Some very nice shots that Paul took by the way.

Looks like I should target this for a future year when I visit an old retired fishing friend who has wanted me out there for probably 15 years now, the time is coming soon.

Regards,

Roger that, couldn't go this year as that weekend was my Grand Daughter's first birthday party. You don't know 'pissed off' until you marry a 'Redhead!!'

Anyone try the 'new' 'Z-spey' rod? Ask as (apparently) 'they' had one for demo purposes.

Actually, they had two. Didn't try either as I couldn't stop gagging until I got away from them.

looks like loop had new rod demonstration there...

The Zpey rod was there and Dan McCrimmon did his demo with it. Loop tackle was not present.

Just had an e mail from Aaron in Carnation, WA. Apparently he has the z-spey rods on his 'try' rack; too bad he's 375 +/- miles north of me .....:hmmm: Would love to give one of those puppies a work out.

First, My son decided to make his first visit home from WSU that weekend and I got to pick him up in Everett, which is still two hours south...So was hugely disappointed in missing this as it would have been a great excuse to see him and the Clearwater for the first time...

Secondly, looking at the pictures I couldn't help but think, Damn!! there are sure allot of old fat guys there...

Thirdly, I just realised...Damn, I'm becoming an old fat guy too...I would have fit right in...Sure hope I can make the next one...:beer2:
