I went down on the Clearwater last week and saw Poppy and ended up with a new Lamson and Echo Classic, thrashed around for 2 days and got 3 hits. I found a new GLX Greased Line rod on ebay last night for $425 so I grabbed it too. Now I just have to figure out what I'm doing, I'm going to swing flys on the Clarkfork and try to get the technique down before I try for steel again. Mike in Missoula

That's a nice package that Mike " Redshed, Poppy" offers. You're gonna be really happy with it once you get your casting down. Just remember to slooooooooow it down.

I just love those echo speys, really a great rod. Keep working on the clearwater, remeber as the water cools to slowww down your swing. Good luck!

I've been asked on several occasions (to the effect): 'Just how many rods and reels do you have Fred?' To be honest, I've lost count a long time ago. That said, gather that the Redshed will be getting some new ones in the 4 and 5 line weight designations. Gotta get me one of those puppies for low water summer work.:thumb:

Three grabs in two days, I think you did quite well.

I think the problem is 'grabs,' not hook ups:ray1: ..... this summer I can 'relate.'

I'm not complaining, the thrashing was my fault. I was happy I got a tug at the end of the line, I must at least had the fly wet. Mike

I was also bit by the spey bug and last week I managed to catch my first salmon on my Deer Creek 7/8 weight. There's something special about catching the first fish on a new rod.
Also kinda justifies all the hours of practice getting a fishable cast down, not pretty, but fishable and getting better all the time.
