I have a traveler series vise with the cam jaw and the jaws broke. I was tying with it and got up to take a break, with a hook still in the jaws, and when I returned a few hours later the jaws on the vise broke. Has anyone ever had this happen and do you know if this is covered under the warranty?
Thanks,
Brian

I have never heard of such a thing. I have the Renzetti Presentation and have used it extensively for about 3 years and have tied large steelhead/salmon/salt water flies and still the jaw is in working order. The warranty should cover it, not sure though.

I have the traveler as well and I've been using it without any issues. How hard did you crank it down to hold the hook?

I have not had the jaws break on my Traveller, but I have had them lose their tight holding power on a hook. When I talked to a person from Renzetti :clown:at a trade show, he said I needed to buy new jaws. I did. Actually I bought 2 sets of vise jaws. One set on a Regal vise and one set on a Norvise. I will not own another Renzetti!!

Thanks for the responses so far. I was not cranking down on the jaws any harder than I normally would; just enough to hold the hook firmly in the vise so the hook would not move when I was tying. I emailed them the other day and have not heard anything yet. Hopefully this will be covered on the warranty otherwise, I think I will be looking for a new vise. If I do end up getting a new vise I may be looking into the Danvise. A buddy of mine has one as a back up and said he really likes it, especially for the price and being a true rotary at that.
I found a shop that did not have any jaws in stock so they sold me the jaws off their display model since I was out of town. So I have a back up set of jaws for now. I just don't want to go through this every couple of years and I am hoping that I just got a bad set of jaws on the original. Thanks again for the responses,
Brian

Good luck with the lifetime warranty
Brian,
I'm curious as to just what broke on the jaws. The jaws themselves, the cam lever?
No lifetime on the Traveler.

Call Renzetti. They'll replace those jaws in a minute. Have done the same thing for days without a problem. Probably a manufacturing defect.
This is the first time I've heard of Renzetti jaws breaking. It was most likely a manufacturing defect. Call Renzetti and have them send you another jaw set. I know folks who have used Renzetti Master and Presentation 3000 and 4000 vises for over 15 years while tying several hundred thousand flies with no jaw problems.

I've had no issues with my traveller but when I do i'm going to try the Nor Vice.

I have had a Presentation 3000 for over 10 yrs. I bought it used. It is the older version that tightens by means of a threaded knob. It's a darned good vice.
Never a problem.

I have had a traveler for 7 years and it has never dissapointed me also i have worked for renzetti dealers and regal dealers for 4 years and the only vises i have seen sent back were regals... I about to upgrade a notch to the master vise at the beginning of november, I cant wait! But concerning your vise, if you call renzetti, explain the issue, dont act like an a-hole, I am sure they will gladly replace your or rebuild your jaws. They are good people with exceptional vises in my opinion!
