I have a 5/6 wt version. I found it spey cast better with single handed rod (8wt-9wt). I think it might due to it level head design, it work pretty well in short distance spey (switch) cast.JMO.

It is a short-belly spey line with a head of 54'. It was designed around the short-belly spey line weight standards the AAFTM adopted 3 years ago, this is why it has the single line designation. It would work with any 2-handed rod designated an 8/9 rod, or if you wanted a deeper bend and bigger load on the rod with a 2-handed rod designated as a 7/8.

Hope this answers your questions.

1. I couldn't find anything on it. I would measure the head, then, using a grain scale, I would weigh the head. From there you could compare it to something similar and then string it up.

2. You could forget all that, and just throw it on your 7/8 spey and see what it feels like. :D

Sloan,

I have one of those. I bought several line weights when Orvis closed them out. I cut my 8 wt back at 15' and put loops on both cut ends. I use the line as my main steelheading line with sink tips. I'm happy with it, but Mello thinks it's a shade heavy for my CND Solstice that's rated 6/7. It's definitely too light to load my 13' 8/9 wt CND.
