Just heard that Scott Mackenzie has a Speycasting Masterclass DVD out in the UK this week, Scott is three times world distance casting champion, an APGAI Instructor, and full time Ghillie/Guide on the River Ness in Scotland.
Scott's casting is nothing short of amazing,, hopefully this DVD will be available in the US soon.
I will post some more detail as soon as i get home (fishing in BC right now) but if you are into Speycasting, there is no one better .
Gordon.

Gordon, will the DVD be out in a 'format' that will work on US players? If memory serves, your 'systems' and ours are quite different.

Hi Fred,
There will be a disributor in the US, and you are right about the different formats but it will be done in US style :thumb:, from what i hear the pre orders are huge.
I fly back to Scotland on Sunday and will go up to Scott hoose and find oot the detail, and let you know as soon as i can.

Hi Guys,
Spoke to Scott yesterday and the DVD will be out in the US before Christmas, the pre-orders in the UK are huge, and no wonder, a new DVD from a guy widely regarded in the UK as the best Speycaster in the world right now, Scott's fishing style is more impressive than his distance casting and thats saying something.
If you are looking to understand Speycasting or how to get the maximum with the least amount of effort this has to be the DVD to get.
Gordon.

Cool. Will they be distributed through fly shops, online, etc?

Gordon,

Where in B.C. were you fishing? And how did you do?

Hi cnaka,
Just working on the detail, but should be in the stores and on-line , still waiting to here from a distribution company, but hopefully will here soon.
I went up to Scott's house and watched the Demo DVD last night, and its brilliant, the technical detail on the casting using computer images (yes Scott wore a sensor suit in the River) as well as Scott giving detail of Single, Double, Snake roll and a few other casts including his own style of casting is as good as it gets, there is no PNW style casts, more traditional style.
The thing i like is that with all the detail there is a fair bit of Scott fishing, and first and foremost he is a great fisherman, but just the guy that changed distance casting with his style.

Speyfisher,
I fished on some of the lakes around Kamloops and a few other places and did very well, well i have been working at a Rainbow trout fishery part-time for 22 yrs so that helped a little, but with fishing its only a little help, fish still out smart me most of the time, but thats why i fish.
Went to Van Island Salmon fishing for a week (annual trip), and it was very poor, the rain follewed us everywhere, so this year to much rain , last year no rain (not a Ghillie's excuse) even though for years i go used to saying you should have been here yesterday, its to bright, the rivers to low, so i guess its like home, who knows the weather, and catching fish is onlt a small part of my trips.
when we found fish on the Island, everybody else had found them too, and i don't fish shoulder to shoulder with wool.
This year i aim to do some guided trips on the Spey sea-trout fishing, still my favorite time of year, and a fish that is sometimes not easy to come by, but long summer nights on the Spey
there is no where else i want to be.:thumb::thumb:
Gordon.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to give an update for all you Speycasters on Scott's masterclass DVD, it came out last week in the UK and has been selling like crazy,(sport fish fly shop sold 500 copies in a weekend) and has been the fastest selling fishing DVD by a mile, the company thats making the DVD's is having to work over the Xmas holidays.
The state of the art motion capture technology is something else, also there is a link to the out-takes on the internet when you buy the DVD, anyway when it becomes available in NTSC , i will post the detail .

Merry Xmas Everyone.
Gordon.
