I have searched through every book I own and gone through Google at least three times trying to find the correct dressing for Frank Headrick's steelhead fly, the Haile Selassie. He considers this pattern, "The Greatest of the Blacks". I would like to tie up a few for the coming winter steelhead season. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Les Johnson

PS: If Frank, now 100 years old, joins us at the Washington Fly Fishing Holiday Party this year I'll try and get it from him. Usually however he is surrounded by people as he is our last living icon of northwest fly-fishing.

Trey Combs second steelhead book has it. Steelhead Fly Fishing and Flies

Haile Selassie

Tail : Hot orange hackle fibers
Tag: Silver Tinsel
Body: Black wool ribbed with silver tinsel
Hackle: Hot orange
Wing: Black bucktail with topping of hot orange wool

I learned some history too from this fly, specifically who Haile Selassie was ! :)

Here are some pictures of the ones I tied for a steelhead fly swap several years ago. Looks like I put some copper krystal flash fibers in a few of them too.

Thanks Hal. I must have missed it in Trey's book.
