Is there a difference between raft style inflatables and pontoon style as far as how they row on still water ?

I'm leaning towards a new Outcast multi-person this spring, but it will end up doing duty on both rivers and some small lakes.

I'm looking at the PAC 1200 and PAC 1300.

Thanks in advance

Gillie, I have both a raft and pontoon. I find little difference in their rowing characteristics. I found by using the smaller pontoon to fish alone ( Pac 9000 ) and the raft (NRS 13.5 Expedition) for two or three people for extended or multiday trips works well for us. If you presently have a small pontoon I would opt for a raft. Also with the larger pontoon boats usually you will be faced with the need for a trailer. I carry my pontoon on top of my Jeep Wrangler But the NRS does require a trailer.

Ron hit it on the head. Stillwater they are about the same. BUT, you must remember both of these boats WERE NOT designed to row on still water in the first place. How set are you with an inflatable? Only reason I ask, you would probably be better serviced with a smaller driftboat (some of the smaller ones will fit in the back of a pickup). You can actually row them and they will move in the water a little better then a pontoon or raft. Which rivers do you plan to row this boat on?

I have the 1300 and had the pac 9000 prior. Both great rafts/ptoons but you will need a trailer or pickup for the former. Mine has been from the Skeena, to the Big Horn, to the OP with no complaints :)
