For several years, members of the Fidalgo Flyfishers, have kept a creel census box at Pass Lake. Information gleaned from these cards is used by the state to determine stock rates, species, size etc. The more info available to them, the better for the end user. Please take the time to fill out a card as accurately as possible. Enjoy the new picnic table and log and rock free launch, supplied by members of the club.

Blake, I'm surprised then that you haven't been regularly filling out the creel cards. The Fidalgo Fly Fishers appreciate any participation in the census.

Blake, don't you like to torture test the bottom of your RHINO CHARGER brand driftboat?

The club member that started the site was out of the club for a time. He's back now, but the site is still down.

when I fish there in the summertime it's cool to see and hear the motorcycles rumbling by, however, I don't understand the guys with the motorcycles that go rumbling by and above all the engine noise you hear their radio. What the hell is that? You bought a Harley Davidson for God know's how much so you could cruise around and listen to the radio? I've caught some nice fish out of Pass, but everytime I go there or hear the name I think about those Jack Holes riding around blaring their music. I think I'm more confused than upset.

Hardtails are for hard asses. There are no more true bikers just wannabes. Windshields, shocks, and radios are for wusses.
Hey Dave does WDFW still put Atlantics in Pass? If so what does one use to catch them in the winter?
There is still this one rock on the launch at Pass that bugs the heck out of me. Could you guys remove it please? It is on the left side as you are looking at the lake right at the water line.:p

They tried to remove that rock when they took all the others out. After digging two feet down to find out the other end of the rock was in china, they gave up.

I tripped over that rock last summer

That large rock has torn a lot of my boat bottom away over the years. If I really get fed up, when the tide goes out again next summer, I'll beat it into submission with a large sledge hammer. I rather be fishin though. By the way, all the rocks we picked out of the launch area, many have be neatly redeposited by tourists. Thank the Parks Dept. for their promp removal of the rocks and log debris. Thats about the way they work...they don't. What a bunch of losers. Might have to actually work up a sweat.

Yes, I seriously think a larger, happier spall hammer would do the job. Have I seen these pix before? See you at the meeting tonight under the direction of our first female president, Ann Bodle-Nash. The Fidalgo Flyfishers meet on the third Thursdays, at the Farmhouse restaurant at 7 P.M. Any warm bodies are welcome.

Thanks for all the improvements. I might be up there tomorrow to do a little fishing.

You people are awesome!! What a great contribution to make the launch better for everyone. Until the picture, I thought the talk about the rock was a jest, it's pretty darn big.
Maybe sometime someone who's doing construction work on the island and has an excavator could come by for the 10-15 min. it would take to remove it??
Regardless thanks to all that helped with the improvements!!
BTW ... if your group keeps the envelopes in good shape, not soaked from the weather, I will always contribute $5 each trip to help in a very small way.

Randy, the facilities at the lake are paid for by your taxes. Please don't donate if you intend on the fly club getting any of that money. The monies in the donation box is for the losers at the parks dept. The Fidalgo Flyfishers are a non-profit group of guys and gals that are in it just for the camaraderie and to enhance the fishing experience. Many of the clubs outings are spent at Pass Lake, so if we waited for the state park guys to clean up or otherwise improve the condition of the launch area, it would be a cold day in hell. If you get the idea that I'm disgruntled with Washington State Parks dept. I am. They talk a lot but usually end up doing nothing. Maybe it's a funding problem or just a lack of good leadership. For instance, after spending hours removing woody debris and rocks from the launch area, the Parks Dept. was to haul off the spoils. It's still all there, and slowly being redeposited by anybody wanting to throw stuff in the water. By the way, funds for the picnic table were donated by a past club member Louis Corbin. Louis past away several years ago and donated a lot of his gear and tying material to the club. It was parlayed into a nest egg that has just now coming to fruition in the form of improvements to the lake. Louis requested the money be used for Pass Lake as this was once his favorite haunt.

Thanks UncleDave! I was under the misconception that the money was somehow going to your org. In the future I will not be leaving any donations as they are not being used appropriately.
It really is too bad that even when so little is asked for in the way of help from the Parks Dept. little or zero effort is given.:beathead::mad:
I only make it there about 3-4 times per year but it's great place and your group has made it better!! :beer2:
Maybe sometime, if you're up for it, I could meet you there in March or April. I could use a hint or two for that lake as I have gone empty handed there more times than I want to admit.

Maybe, just maybe, I have been a little hard on the Parks Dept. As far as keeping the place open, I'm sure a lot goes on behind the scenes. It would seem that if labor was donated, coordinating a truck with some gravel would seem easy enough. That didn't happen. As far as going empty-handed, everybody suffers that fate occasionally. Although March, April should be your best bet at any lowland lake around here. Here's a hint: try chironomids at Pass early spring, fishing can be phenomenal.
