anyone ever go out when the lake has a good part frozen? I came up from Seattle for like a 5 day trip. I hope to get some fishing in. Any info would be great.

Hey RC,
Welcome. I went out last year at this time when it was about 75% frozen (including the launch). Took my brother and we were 2 of 3 on the lake that morning. The other guy had a boat and played ice-breaker from the launch. We had tubes and got in at the 2nd bay where it was clear. Not stellar but we found action. Ledges near bottom w/ fast-sink...we were using nymphs. Should be a topo on WashingtonLakes site if you're not familar w/ depths at Pass. From our pics you'd have thought it was July...clear/sunny all day but I wouldn't exactly say we were warm.

Word of caution - I wouldn't go near the ice or fragments of it (keep one eye behind you). Also advise against going out alone. And the obvious one...wait till daylight to get in.

Good Luck! :thumb:

RC I'm sure I was captain of the icebreaker last year. Currently Pass is ice free, and has been all winter. Dead drifted blood worms on a long leader...

I was just on it and well I know there is ice. Ya I know I should never go out alone but my fishing panter could not make it. I have a river pantoon that has 4 tubes. I got in the water on the side. Ty for the info.

Anyone who's been there, how severe is the ice?
Can you launch or is it next to the road only?
Planning on finding somewhere to fish tomorrow, maybe will hit a river.
Anyone else who's seen Cranberry, Lone, Steven's or other fishin' lakes that aren't frozen?

I don"t know where the ice is on Pass Lake? I've fish it every weekend. I suspect those that see ice may be exaggerating a bit, like their fish catching prowess...

Lone lake is pretty clear with just a little ice building along the edges in the shallows of the south end.
