I've had some great days on Lenice for the opener. Thinking about Lenore this year though. That is if the ice thaws before August.

Haven't fished Lenore yet believe it or not. Is it a chironimid thing early or do guys do fairly well on streamer/leech patterns?

Hi coastal cutt, you can do well on either one. Color is very important and can change quickly. Stop in Soap Lake and listen to what they say. A certain color wooley bugger may be working today but tomorrow you might have to cut the tail off to get a bite. When all else fails, use a bright steel head pattern like Skykomish Suntise or anything with burnt orange and gold tinsel in about size six. It almost always works. A lot of steelhead patterns were originally searun cutt patterns in smaller sizes and they work.

I sure hope to hit one of the rainbow lakes up! Do you guys go out there in float tubes? Got to be cold that way, glad I use a pram with added comfort features. I got a broken ankle and will still not be putting weight on it till late march. Will be making father drag it in for me so I can still get out early!!!

Hey welcome to the board! Hope you can get out with that ankle. I tried to fish a couple years ago with a broken left arm. stripping flies was HELL!

I will be out that way Feb. 29th-march 3rd. Not sure how I'm gonna divide my time between the Yakima, RF, Lenice/Nunnally, etc. I will be tent/truck camping, anybody know of a good location near to, or central of these locations?

Stick real close to the Yakima and RF.....I would stay in Ellensburg.
Did look at the Yakima on Sunday....flowing good, with only a few icebergs.
The rest of the waters will be rock solid. And once it melts.....it will be a couple of weeks before the water hits a temperature warm enough for fishing!!!

Thanks for the advice, but I'm definitely looking to camp. I would rather freeze my ass off in a tent than stay in a hotel in Ellensburg. I suppose the KOA in Vantage would work, but I'd rather find something a little more scenic/private. Anybody else plan on camping out there, or am I the only one tough enough :clown:

TT:
There is a private campground just south of E'burg off Canyon Rd., by Ringer's on the Yak. The Nunnally chain. Now scenic spots is another matter. The spots I know are prtty much dirt and sage brush. You can use the lot at RF, or head up by Burke & Dusty Lakes. Seems like there are quite a few places to plop a tent.
I'll likely be in a tent too, just kinda depends on the ice and where I plan to head.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking a campground may be the way to go. Won't have to worry as much about my gear getting stolen. Let me know if you figure out where you're heading. If I'm out that way I'll say hello. I should have plenty of :beer1: on hand.

there is a very nice campground in coulee city, or at least there was. if its gone im sure there are places to go. the campground at steamboat rock is awesome on banks lake. (get a few casts at the predawn) and fishing in the lakes to the west is easy access. if u want something even closer look around ephrata maybe?
