I am looking into purchasing a pontoon boat or a watermaster and I am trying to get the best boat for me. I fish mostly the Nooksack, Skagit, Suak and Stilly, but would also be using my boat for trout fishing in lakes and rivers.

My questions is how much you guys use your standing platforms? I can see them being nice for fishing when anchored in a run where you just need that couple extra feet or when fishing the lakes, but im wondering if the take away the advantage of being able to use your fins to control your drift while nymphing down a run. I not sure if I would end up using my boat just for transportation from run to run or if I would use it often as a tool for places I cant wade.

If I am going to get a boat with a standing platform I would want something bigger and more stable, but if I dont use one with that option I can get a cheaper boat that I use just for transport.

Thanks for any help,
Josh

I fish mainly in lakes and I like to stand. So when I got my pontoon, a standing platform was a must. I ended up going with the Scadden Madison. When I do float a river, I simply leave the standing platform apparatus at home. The boat sets up either with or without the platform/leanbar.

I bought a standing platform for my Creek Company 1018 and did not like using it. The 'toon is not very stable with weight forward of center. Now then, using my 1220 as a single seat 'toon the standing platform is GREAT.

I have a Scadden kayak. I stand on the seat every chance I get (even on slow moving water). Nothing beats being up high to be able to see.

I use my standing platform all the time. Had the old original steelheader and now the newer tubes. I mostly use my boat as a fishing craft, so I fish as I'm on the move and standing up doing it. Catch a good number of fish as the boat is on the move, so yeah I'd say I fish standing up. :)
