I just bought a new boat, but didn't want to pay $600 for a cover. Does anyboy know of a cheaper alternative? I was thinking about trying to make one myself or looking up a tent/awning company that could possibly make one for me. Any and all suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I did not want to pay that kind of bucks for a cover either. Take a look in the big Cabela catalog in the boat section. I am pretty sure that they sell a cover that will fit a Clack for a heck of a lot less.

Try boater's world or Sportco for canvas boat covers. I bought one for my Lund that cost around $100.

Brett,
I bought one from Cabelas for our 05 16ft FB, and it works great. Only thing I wished it had was a front bra, to protect against rocks. I will head over to my dad's house later, and take some pics if you want.

I own the clack mfg cover for my 16LP. After seeing pics of the Cabellas cover the only difference l can see is that the clack cover covers the sides of the boat, which is really nice on long trips or heading over the pass in early spring. If you're going to make one I would highly suggest covering the sides as well, like Ryan mentioned.

I recently saw a Joes ad showing their boat covers on sale at 25% off. There was a picture of a boat that looked to be a Clack but the cover didn't cover the sides of the boat. The cover that clackacraft sells is pricey but it sure is nice. I got one for my boat.
