March Brown season is upon us. Using the umbrella hooks I created this pattern and tested it on the Yakima the other day. Nothing rose to it but nothing was rising to the few naturals either - water is still a little cool and I found one single dun on the water. Floats well though and promises to fish well when they start looking up. Had to satisfy my 'hunt' Wednesday with Baetis...
Hook - Large Umbrella
Thread - Light Brown
Abdomen - Hare's Ear Plus Dubbin Rusty Orange
Abdomen overlay - Pheasant tail fibers
Ribbing - Light brown thread
Tail - Moose mane fibers
Hackle - Whiting brown figure-8 wrapped
Wing - Slate Gray CDC (doubled) - Recipie change since posted, Slate Gray produces a better match to the natural
