Went to Quincy Lake yesterday. Water temperature was 58 degrees. Air temperature was a perfect 70. It finally looks like spring has arrived!!! Forecast for next week is 90 degrees. So it looks like it is going to be a very short spring.

Fishing was great on black and green chronomids. Lots of nice fat fish. Biggest of the day was 20 inches and about 6 inches thick. These must be last years carryovers.

This lake REALLY needs to be a selective fishery!!!

Thanks for the report, that is an awesome lake and could definitely use a selective fishery.

I was at Quincy yesterday. The weather conditions were good with light overcast and low wind for most of the day. The swallows were out but I only saw a few fish rise the whole time I was there.

I headed to an area the birds were working over pretty hard and dropped my hemostats down to check the depth. I adjusted the indicator for about 24 feet and used a bloodworm/grey chironomid combo that produced equally well for the rest of the day.

I caught fat holdovers from 13" up to about 18". Stomach samples showed the fish were very active on a #12 black chironomid with a metalic sheen down the body. I also saw some brown casings in the surface film.

I stripped a damsel nymph and released a few fish on the way back to the launch but that was cut short by the hurricane force wind that came up about 5:00 pm.

The fishing was ok but probably not worth making the drive from Seattle with this as your only destination.
