View Full Version : Travel Case
I am looking for suggestions for an inexpensive, well organized travel case. One that is long enough to carry saddles without damage.
What is everyone using?
Thanks in advance

For many years I've used an older ballistic nylon briefcase. I bought it back in the early 90's when I took a few classes to further my edu. It quickly was discovered as an excellent tying kit. It's large enough for most materials and has enough pockets and dividers to organize fairly well. Of course no matter what "container" you come up with, one always tries to overload with more that it's designed to carry. Not to worry though, you're not a legitimate tier unless you're carrying too much stuff!

Inexpensive ? I bought a used lap-top case for 3 bucks from a thrift store . It`s the best three bucks I`ve ever spent . It has dividers on the inside , and pockets on the outside . On my annual two week trip to Smithers , I cram it with enough stuff , including full size saddles , and my HMH tube vise (and magnum jaws) , dubbing, marabou , hooks ,tools etc . ,to keep me tying for two years .

I use one of those airline carry on bags with wheels and an extendable handle (Goodwill for $5) Plenty of pocket for keeping hackle safe and a ton of space for other stuff.

Tough to beat a duffle bag, with the materials separated in to zip lock bags. I used to have one of those bags designed for fly tying, and the duffel/zip lock bag is much superior.
