I'm looking for a good place to order my materals from that is not putting all the little shops out of business.I'm trying to buy as close to home (PNW)as I can to try and keep my money in the area to help with keeping our local folks working and have it not go into some super rich bastards pocket. Thanks for letting me rant a little

Try some of the local shops in the Seattle area, many have an online store and you would still be shopping "local"!

My personal favorite is All About the Fly (http://www.allaboutthefly.com) and their online store is linked on their site or you can go directly at http://www.irishangler.com/. Great steelhead materials and the shop has ton's of materials that may not be listed on the site.

Many of the other site sponsors have online shops as well and are great to do business with! Check them out!

All About the Fly is a site sponsor and their newly acquired web business unit is the Irish Angler (irishangler.com). They are expanding their web product line to a broad range of materials very quickly, but most of the items currently displayed in the web catalog are the steelhead and wonderful semi-exotic fly tying materials that Jack Cook carried when he created IA. Look them up, if you don't find what you want, send a quick note to Sandy and I'm sure she will get back to pronto.

Pacific Fly Fishers is a sponsor, a terrific shop, and they have an excellent web catalog with a broad range of materials. Michael Bennett has been very helpful to me.

Puget Sound Fly Co. is another sponsor. I love the shop, but their web catalog is currently being reworked. They will soon be another excellent web purchase option. Clarke and Anil are terrific people!

In short, you do not have to go far to get most anything you could want and I guarantee none of these folks are "super rich!"

The shops mentioned are nice shops with great owners, and if you are in their neighborhood, you should make it a purpose to stop by and check 'em out.

However, for mail order, it's tough to beat Kaufmann's Streamborn. Great selection and inventory, great catalog, great service, and the products they sell are top notch. Whenever I want materials and want to ensure that the shop has the item, and that it's top quality, tough to beat Kmann.

If the shop were more accessible for me, for tying materials I'd be beatin' feet to Waters West. The owner, Dave, is a super nice and helpful guy, and his shop has a tremendous selection of top tying materials. When I visit Port Angeles I almost (almost) hate to even visit his shop to say hi because I know I'll be walking out of there with more materials.

Waters West, in Port Angeles, www.waterswest.com, has one of the best, most complete, fly tying materials inventories I've ever seen. Give 'em a call. They'll have your order out that day. And if you're ever in Port Angeles, you should stop in just to see a really neat fly shop.

I don't know if they are a site sponsor or not but I've had great service with J.Stockard Fly Fishing, lots of materials and ships within a few days. www.jsflyfishing.com
