Hi,
I have a canvas cover on my drift boat that was purchased at GI Joes approx 5 years ago.
The boat/canvas was parked under trees in Vancouver, WA. As a result, the canvas has a slimy/moldy appearance.
Has anyone had a similar situation?
If so, how did you resolve the problem short of throwing the cover away?
Any help would be appreciated. :hmmm:

I would try using a strong mixture of vinegar...50/50, spray the heck out of it and then scrub ,it's worth a try.....Good Luck,Alan

Here are some ideas worth considering:

Or perhaps pressure washing and baking soda.

Thanks Alan and Itchy.
My wife will be happy to hear of the vinegar solution because that is what she suggested.
I am going to try to find some lux or ivory soap (non detergent soaps as suggested by the website that Itchy referred to) to take off the heavy duty slime with a stiff brush, then follow up with the vinegar solution because it may help slow down the build up in the future.
Thanks again, guys. :thumb:

The acid in vinegar will kill allmost anything...tell that very smart wife to use it in the kitchen works a lot better than the $5 bottle of cleaner stuff, and this is from a person that makes chocolates for a living....Alan

White vinegar good stuff! My welder told me I could use it to etch aluminum before painting it. Great for cleaning wooden cutting boards, coffee makers, and stinking up the place.

If you're looking for a good spray on cleaner, buy "The Works". Stuff kills about anything and works wonder on hard water and slime (we are on well water, so we get some nasty buildup of minerals). Stuff works great! Will also say go with the vinegar as well. We only use the Works because water is so hard, even that mixture doesn't cut like it should. But the works really eats away the grime.
