Hi all,

I'm thinking of adding another boat to the fleet and am considering something in the 11' - 12' range that might allow me to use it either as a smaller 2 man outfit when I want to take someone or as a heavy duty 1 man rig for bigger water or camping trips. I already have a smaller one man pontoon (PAC 900) that's great for just me and fairly lightweight. However, I'm not totally sure I'd trust it in bigger water and would like an option for overnights or Class III / IV if needed. I've considered just getting a heavy duty one man rig (like a Skookum Steelheader 10'), but that wouldn't allow me to fish with some family members that I don't trust to row themselves. Have any of you gone down this path and what experiences did you have? In terms of time usage, it would be probably 70% as a 1 man pontoon and 30% as a 2 man. Thoughts?

Thanks,

HJ

Check out this forum's classified section; Dirk Pit-He has a beautiful unit at an unbelievably good price!
I have a NFO Skykomish Sunrise that I've set up with a 2nd seat on a 7" rise pedestal & swivel for my grandsons. Works great on stillwaters, not for moving water. I'm working on a frame extension for that.

I have a custom 12 foot that converts from 1 to 2 man. Most of my usage is in
the two man configuration which it handles well. As a one man it maneuvers even better. This design is oars only no fins but you can have two standing. It's great for the front man to stand and fish. Like most pontoons, I would say in anchors poorly but could be improved by changes to the anchoring point.
With any of these pontoons in boils down to your specific usage.
I use mine in lakes as well as rivers.
