WA river cutthroat pics

Floated and fished a local river on Saturday of this weekend. Rain (heavy at times for most of the day) caused the river to come up about half a foot. Lots of cutthroat to hand. There was the possibility of steelhead, but that did not materialize. I am never disappointed in finding hard fighting cutthroat that come to a swung fly. They always seem to occupy the exact lies where you expect them (behind that large boulder, next to that submerged log). I love the suprise when that prime lie holds a steelhead instead of the cutthroat you are expecting. It was a very enjoyable day on the river.

I've had a couple questions about the Alpacka so thought I would post. I've used it a lot for accessing remote stretches of river where you would want to hike in and float out (think upper stretches Queets, Bogey, Hoh, Sky). Last week I used it on the gated upper stretches of the Green (not King Co Green). Biked in on gated logging roads, strapped the bike to the boat and floated back out (see attached pic). The boat weighs about 8lbs and I also use it for hiking into alpine lakes. If you don't like fishing from a raft on lakes - it's not for you. If you don't like spending lots of money on a boat, it's also not for you (although it's well made and should last for years). Overall, for what I use it for, I really like it. It gets me into places you can't access with any other type of boat.
