My first ever trip to MT was for my best friend's wedding. It was located at the Holland Lake Lodge, a breathtaking location. I departed on the 1st of July and returned the evening of the 4th of July. 1st and 4th were almost totally in the truck on the road. I had very limited time to fish, but etched out about 5 hours over the 2nd and 3rd between social events, rehearsals and the ceremony itself. I'm very new to fly fishing freshwater and based on some intel from a few forum members and staff at the Kingfisher Fly shop in Missoula I had some luck. Three cut throats (one pic included) from a lake recommended by Alpinetrout. One Brown (after wedding camera was dead), honestly it was 18" and I was stoked until two local boys said that they normally catch 30-32"ers) from Browns Lake near Ovando and finally one rainbow from Owl Creek near Seeley Lake (about 10" and also no photo). I really enjoyed my trip, thanks to all involved in putting me in places of great beauty with a chance to catch fish. Oh, the fly selection was recommeded by the shop, most were actually used and a couple of the patterns were productive. A dragonfly nymph patter I brought along netted the three cutts from the first lake. A couple of the pics are the first fantastic lake (where in an alpine meadow above I saw two LARGE bears) and its relatively remote FS Road access (great road to bomb through for some added excitement).

I think I will be going back, this time not to marry off a friend, but just to fish.

Nice report and pics Mumbles, to bad you did not have more time to fish.

Thanks Otis, i guess that is my first trip report! I wish I had done a few things differently. I should have gone a day earlier and stayed a day later, but the wife and kids were at home tearing the place up, a shorter trip was unfortunately in my cards. I wish I had brought my Fuji finepix Z1's charging/downloading cradle so I could have refreshed the stupid square battery and had power to shoot that brown and rainbow, especially the brown. Lessons learned. Now I just need to find a way to go back.

I only buy cameras that take plain old batteries for very reason. Yeah they dont last as long, but I can pick up batteries at any gas station or store.

I've been telling myself to get a new one for a while. Great photos and videos, but that darn cradle and battery are tough to work around. This snowboarding season I was left with a cold battery with very limited photo ability. Epic conditions and no camera to show it off.
