what kind of glue should i use so the rabbit is flexible. i bought 2 samples from two fly shops and one is very movable and the other is stiff. the fish hit the flexible one and ignored the stiff one. mike w

I typically do mine without any glue at all, if you want a less messy alternative.

trap, how and where do you hook the rabbit strips on? i assume the point side is stuck with the hook. do you have gills? mike w

I tie on the top strip at the bend, then hook the bottom strip so that the leather extends back a little shorter than the top leather. Because the top strip is tied in, it keeps the bottom strip from sliding up. I then tie in and wrap a body of mylar braid in silver or gold. Tie down the rabbit strips at the head and but red krystal flash gills on the sides. And that's it. Oh, and I weight the fly by tying a strip of lead wire lenghtwise on the bottom of the hook to help it ride with the top color up.

I use 3M. It is a spray on but the bunny stays very flexible. In fact I use it to glue foam together also. Lay it out on news paper in a well ventilated area or out doors, let it tack up and bingo, nice and flexible, plus waterproof.

I tied next to Scott Sanchez at San Mateo ages ago. He was using barge cement at the time. I remember saying "dude, I use that on my Birkenstocks! Yeah, I wear Birkenstocks! Big whup! Wanna fight about it!?

I just put a couple drops of zap a gap and it keeps the strips together really well.
