It doesn't happen twice in a row because it isn't scripted and that is what makes every day on the water special. Go enjoy yourself and where you are in your flyfishing experience. Don't fret that others are in a different place both in skill and fishing ability. If you are fixated on trying to be someone else you will overlook all of the amazing experiences happening right in front of you. (This doesn't just apply to fishing in my experience)

spending thousand of dollars just to play with a damned fish seems pretty damned stupid to me sometimes. It's a good thing I've won the battle against common sense hands down.

#1 Summer thermal issues
#2 Having to pee while pursuing a fish
#3 Getting bitten...somewhere, by mosquitoes while peeing, while pursuing said fish.

A size 22 Scary Bear (or Sasquatch) bait fishing and smoking - the stub of which she (or he) will flick into the water, while voting Demodrat (or in some staes Repudlican) is BY FAR the scariest thing a fly fisherperson could encounter. Well, unless there's something else.

Bugs. Ever drive into a swarm of bugs(mosquito's) at the place you park. And can't get them out of your rig?????????????????????

At your age, Jim, that's called "macular degeneration." All those little bugs flying round are actually small bits of decomposing macular tissue, inside your eyeballs. Well most of them anyway. If they bite, maybe theyr'e for real! But I've got a near blizzard of those "floaters" in my eyes, and sometimes they're hard to ignore.
Hey we got real bugs out here on the coast right now. I thought I saw a mosquito the other day!

But I agree with those dang bugs being our worst enemies. I mean, every time I achieve a rare moment of drag free drift, it seems like some bug lands right next to my fly and the fish takes that instead!
