    Larry Craig, my hero

    http://archives.seattletimes.nwsourc...Larry+Craig%22

Good old Larry Craig, Republican Senator from Idaho, is at it again, doing his damnedest to hasten the extinction of Snake River salmon. What do you expect from a pol who gets more money from the utility industry than from any other source? Thanks, Larry, you will go down in history as one of the chief architects of salmon genocide.

    RE: Larry Craig, my hero

I've come to realize that the decline of the salmon populations are not due to the dams, the farmers, over-harvesting, exploitation, or habitat degridation. It's not the hatcheries, the gill-netters, or the clear-cutting. I'm sure that they're not to blame because each of these groups have scientific proof that they're not to blame. So if none of them are to blame, then it must be something else...hmmm...

What I've come to realize is that the decline of the salmon is actually the salmon's fault. I believe that the salmon have become lazy. They're probably dieing from heart disease, getting ulcers, and maybe committing suicide. We don't need to tear the dams out, we simply need to bio-engineer bigger, tougher salmon, Salmon that can jump those damn dams.

Another option would be to toughen them up somehow, maybe calisthenics, or maybe we need to sharpen their mental skills. Maybe they should be mentored. Maybe we could put in little bouys (red, right, returning, you know, just like ships) that would show them the way to the ladder so that they don't waste away below each of the dams trying to figure out which way is up.

And if you believe any of that, well, uh...I've got some river-front property...you know,

    Skinny

Maybe we should form a Larry Craig for President Committee. We could show him standing on the back of a dead salmon. Maybe even a pile of dead salmon. Why, maybe even a whole run of fish. Or, maybe even the entire species itself.
Bob. Up with Larry! That's my mantra.
