I fished above Gold Bar yesterday with no luck. About 3 weeks ago I caught a beautiful, fat and bright jack chinook of 22 inches at Ben Howard. I know the steelhead are in there though and I plan to go back pretty soon.

Hit the Sky yesterday near Cable Hole…thought the rain might push a few fish up the river. I didn't touch any.

My buddy was throwing gear. He had zero luck.

Couple of other gear guys we talked to had the same experience?!?

The river seemed to be in great shape though.

I went to 'scout' it out on Saturday, I agree everything looked fishy but from my vantage points I did not see any flashes or gathering of fish. I also cruised up the NF and found some smoldering campfires and garbage (fires got a bath and garbage found a home). I hope that made up for not being able to make it to the event.
I should be out there soon, good luck!

I fish the sky last week before the rains and sunday with no luck. I hit it lower in the river near Monroe, looking for new fish. No Luck.

Davy and I fished it a few weeks ago and I lost one then, but NOTHING since. The river was in great condition and they should be there.

    Good Luck,
    DeLe

Well if you are thinking of hitting it up high, forget it as there is nothing up there to write home about. Up high I mean around the town of Skykomish.

More nothings. The big hole at the Money Creek CG has some big fish on the bottom.

Floated from High bridge down to Sultan on Saturday the 9th, sounds like I had the experience of everyone else. The river looked great, water was up, visibility to about 20", figured if there was any around we have a chance. All I can say is we had a great float, stopped off at a few local haunts on the way w/ also no luck. I sure can't wait for some fish to come, I'm tired of hooking sticks and rocks. We did see a fish jump or rather heard it up in the first hole below the boat lauch at high bridge, and then saw another rolling just upstream of the bridge in Sultan. People on the bank in Sultan, said they had seen fish rolling in confluence of the Sultan/Sky but we didn't see anything. Well all I can say is it was alot better than working.
    Tight lines,

    Re: skykomish river

Been getting in some pretty good casting practice at Buck Island in the evenings (the white VW you might see parked on HWY-2), but haven't moved a thing. I saw something roll in the frog water near the inside bank, but I'm guessing it was something other than a SH, since it wasn't quite big enough, and in the wrong place. Still - got my heart going ...

Looking for a trout spot for Saturday morning with my Preacher - can anyone recommend a spot around the Monroe/Sultan area? I'll end up at the Beckler, if I can't find anything better.

    Thanks in advance!

I fished it pretty hard yesterday again, this time right above Sultan, with no luck.

Not really. I spoke to a few guys down at the shop and there have been a few hook ups, but the run has not materialized as of yet.

After 1/2 dozen "casting practice" trips I finally got a bright hen last night after work--below Sultan.

I've been out several times this last couple weeks. Keep getting smaller and smaller on the flies. Tying leader that keeps getting lighter and lighter. Finaly got a massive hit "below Sultan" but it came unbuttoned. Not a whole lot running, but it's bound to get better sooner or later. I guess when the gear guys start swarming, we'll know there in.
