My Lamiglas rod

So I was fishing the Yakima last week and was putting my rod together, I noticed that the upper section on the ferral is cracking straight up! Also the epoxy on the eyes on the upper section is starting to bubble???? I did not send in the warranty card. What should I do? I bought it back in late April I think, and have no reciept?

Lamiglas historically treated my father in law very well. That is all he used for many years. I have one of his hand me down 8wt 2pc rods, very nice stick. I bet they will stand behind their stuff. Do you keep your rod in your closed up hot car all the time? Oh, wait, you have got to be a truck guy...or are you driving one of the geo metros? I've heard rumors that keeping rods in sealed hot cars is very bad. I've not seen it with my gear, but often because that is in the back of my mind I'll actually take my rod case into work with me when I plan on fishing at lunch or after work.

I'd go back to Joes. I had problems with a cheap rod I bought there some time back. I took in my credit card statement showing when I bought it and they handed me a new one. If you can't get a new one and are close to Everett I can probably patch it up for you.

Nope drive a truck, and never leave my gear in the truck.

You have the warranty card; send it in (or a copy of it) to Lamiglas along with your rod. You'll need to mail in all the pieces so they can fit the pieces properly.

I'll disagree with the other folks here. The warranty is a relationship between you and the manufacturer, Lamiglas, not between you and the retailer (Joe's); so, if you are looking for help with the rod, then you need to send it to Lamiglas. You'll also get things done more quickly if you go straight to the manufacturer; trust me, my dad was in retail sporting goods for a long time, and typically the manufacturer will respond more quickly to you than the store.

I had a lamiglas rod repaired last year. I had purchased it second hand and just told their CS that I received it as a gift with no warranty paper work. They had me mail all the pieces in with a check for $25.00. Repaired it and gave it a good cleaning (took the mojo of the cork ) but had it back about 3 weeks later with a new warranty card.

Richard, I've dealt with ALOT of rod returns. Not sure which company your Dad works with. But I've seen HUNDREDS of rods change hands at companies like Sportco and GI Joes over the years. Hell, back in the days when I'd venture into the morning hatch they'd take Sage rods and do the return work for you. Called customer service. Yes, the warranty is between the manufacturer and the consumer, but alot of times it's the stores who inherantly take the brunt of the defect since they were the ones selling it. I used to know the original owner of Sportco, and he ALWAYS took a rod back. Sometimes just giving a new one in exchange and sending the other rod off himself. The old gear shop up on Pacific Highway was the same way. Especially with consistant regular customers, I've seen well over and above service like that.

So yes, it's between the buyer and the manufacturer, but it can happen quickly at the retailer, especially if they're actually a certified seller (as in a proshop) for the company.
