Here is my SBS on tying up Enrico Puglisi's Peanut Butter. This fly represents baitfish (duh) and can be tailored to any colors, shape, and sizes that you need to imitate your local baitfish. Hook size can also be varied depending on if you are off-shore or on an inland lake. This pattern is proven on Tarpon, Stripers, Tuna, Snook, Bass, Trout, and a multitude of other predatory fish.

Here is our finished product in two tone colors. Certainly this pattern could even be done with 3 or even 4 tones.

So let's get started. Here is our hook in the vice. This is a Gamakatsu #2 Octopus Circle Hook.

Tie in a small red tag at the bend of the hook using mono thread. This could be EP Fibers or as I am using here, poly. This will be your gills.

Trim the tag so that it extends just past the hook.

Tie in 4 or so strands of flashabou and double them over. This will form your lateral line.

At this point we will start tying in the EP Fibers. Pull a hank off to tie in on the top. The amount will be about a little less diameter of a match stick when twisted.

Tie this in on top of the hook. You can either slip it in under the thread or use a pinch wrap. Take another two wraps forward.

Bend the EP Fibers back over top of itself and take three wraps back.

Advance your thread to the front of this stack and flip the hook over and tie in the white (or whatever color) belly again using three wraps forward.

Bend the fibers back on itself and three wraps back. Notice the alternating step look developing.

Tie in another bunch of flashabou.

At this point, check to make sure that your fibers are on the top and bottom of the shank. They will be easy to move around with a bit of force from your fingernail. When you're happy with the positioning, apply superglue. This will also ensure the fly will take a beating.

Repeat the step to apply the fibers on the top and bottom.

Keep adding in the fiber in this alternating step pattern, supergluing as you go. You may need to comb the fibers every now and then when pulling them from the stack.

Once you get to the front and are ready to apply the last top piece, tie it on the side of the hook. Here I've used another color to show you better.

Pull the fibers under the shank and tie in on the side closest to you.

Finish off the head and whip finish. Apply superglue. At this point we are pretty much done and the fly is pretty scraggley.

Comb out the fibers. Be sure not to just comb it back but comb it in a fan like manner.

Using long scissors, trim to your desired length in roughly the shape of a maple leaf using the hook gape as a guide.

Here's one cut a bit longer.

Add your doll eyes using 5 minute epoxy and call it done.

The body taper is merely to be suggestive of a baitfish. EP Fibers themselves are waterproof. Using this same technique but with about double the amount of material used, you could definately turn this into an EP Floating Minnow. Its then down to what line you use with it to make it do what you want ie fishing a topwater fly with a sink line.
