I finally got to give the new rod/reel a go today on my lunch break. Its a Scott A4- 10' 7wt with a sage 2280 reel and scientific anglers steelhead taper line. It roll casts like a champ and launches my heavy streamers upwards of 400 feet (rough estimate).
I could not be happier with Santa this year ( my wife claims it was her idea).
Casting awesome , catching on the otherhand is a different story. The spot I go near work is near Kaiser aluminum, which adds is special phosphorus mix to the water and intakes/ expels a lot of water. It tends to scare most fish away ( when they dump)with the exception of a few small mouth. Good enough for a fist cast I guess. I will get to give it a real run through on Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised if I pull in several over 30".....
Could happen, some good sized Chinooks spill over from Lake Cda occasionally.
At least you should have the rod for it if you get lucky.
