  1. Bitterroot. Just me and the whitefish. Also a couple trout but I didn’t have the camera handy for them. Water is very cold. Saw a few midges popping but no fish on the surface. Fly shop dudes think the skwalas will be showing up in early March. I’ll be back.

  2. Drove all the way to MT? Hey whatever, like you said shook the cabin fever.

  3. Troutpocket, Right on !!!! I can't wait !! Montana is always worth the drive !!!!

  4. yes, the skwala's will be a coming soon!...get your green stones ready !!

  5. Nice. Mostly whitefish or not, at least you got out! Skwalas in early March might be a bit of a stretch - at least numbers of any consequence.

How far up the valley did you go? How much low-elevation snow was there? I hope it doesn't warm up too fast. We need this good snowpack to last a while...

  6. Good on ya for getting out. I shall fish Montana vicariously through you.

  7. Fished the bridge access points between Victor and Hamilton. We have more snow on the ground in Spokane than there was in the Bitterroot Valley. But air temps caused ice in my guides until early afternoon. It still feels like winter for sure.
