Over the last 3 days I've been fishing a few beaches for searuns and have been having pretty good success, I've finding that each time the fish will really go for 1 pattern each day with every day different not to say they won't hit something different but the preference is noticable. The first day it was a small euphausid pattern I was sight casting to fish and they were really going for it. The next day the fish wanted the orange bugger and would just slam it, but they were also going for an orange gurgler at times which was pretty fun. Todays fish were going for a white gurgler and this was the most fun out of all 3 days, there weren't any fish rising, I was just casting out over some flats as the tide went out in water 1 to 5' deep and on my first cast a really pretty 15" searun went airborn nailing my fly, from there on it was pretty much a fish on every few casts with lots of follows and misses mixed in just to keep everything interesting. I've included pics of the flys all were tied on size 10 hooks the bugger is on a #10 mustad salmon hook the others on a #10 ss.

I'm eating my heart out. I have a cold in my nose and the weather is cold, local lakes covered with ice, the bite is off at RW, damn I'm doomed.
    Nice ties

Yep, thanks for the report and fly pics. I drove down the West side of Hood Canal yesterday afternoon after the low tide change. Had my beach fishing gear with me. The spots I happened to check didn't look fishy so I just travelled on, thinking I might check out a spot or two on the Satsop, but I didn't stop and fish there either, because I decided that I had too much stuff in my truck that I didn't want to leave unattended. So I just came home.

Good to hear about your success and thanks for the post.

I might have to tie up a couple of those patterns and give it a shot since I have the day off tomorrow.
