I was lucky enough to have a client landed the biggest wild rainbow most have seen on the Kenai River. I was blessed again 9 days later when an old buddy of mine that owns Alaska Troutfitters called me and needed a larger net for the largest rainbow he had ever seen. After measuring it and looking it over it was the same fish I had touch just over a week before. I feel lucky to have had the chance to see such a fish more then once and hope to see one again sometime in my life. The fish measured 35 1/4 x 22 and was landed on a 7wt 10' z-axis on 10lb tippet and a size 10 hook. Pretty cool.

That pig is bigger than most of the steelhead I've caught. New meaning to fish of a lifetime.

A fish with that length and girth weighs about 23 lbs according to a chart I found on the internet. Amazing!

You are the man........the CHI-TOWN PIMP of the Kenai. The nuts and the whole sack too............Ham and swiss with chips! People fish their whole lives and never see a fish like that.

I'm a bit ignorant on the subject, so when rainbow reach massive sizes like that, what can you cue in on to differentiate between them and steelhead?
