intruder eye placement

Seen them tied both ways on waddingtons or hooks like a 7999 which gets cut off when finished.

I gues as a tyer, it's each to his own but which way makes the fly track correctly? It sure seems that the eyes on the bottom of the shank opposite the upturn of the hook eye would be ideal.

Cruncher, I tie them the same way with the weight below the shank so the eye rides up. You can do it the other way, which would effectively turn it into a down-eye hook. Don't think it make much difference, but if you tie in feelers just make sure they are opposite the weight.
