Can the spine be found on a light weight fly rod.

Is it possible to somewhat accurately find the spine on a 2 wt fly rod? I have been playing with a Sage TXL-B 2710-3 and find it difficult to get it to rotate toward the more flexible plane. I am resting the rod on my finger then bending in the middle of the piece trying to allow it to rotate. Is it too light or is there a better method for a beginning rod maker?

Try setting the larger diameter end on a hard surface and angled up toward another hard surface. I like using a large book or two on the table. Try rolling it with the knife edge of your hand (no thumb side) and see if you can feel or see the "jump" of the rod around the spine.
