How is the quail population

With quail (plus chuckar, and huns) open for hunting Saturday, I'm heading over to the Okanogan area. I'll hunt the usual haunts around Brewster, Bridgeport and farther north. I was wondering how the bird population fared after such a wet spring. I'm not optimistic but I did hear some good reports around Moses Lake and down by Prosser. Rick
Im heading to a seahawks game, but my buddy is givin me a hard time about it! we have seen good numbers of quail and some huns. Good luck on the opener Rick!

Bird Dogs and Fly Rods
From what little I have seen the quail did well. Lots of late/second hatch birds. I have not seen a ton of pheasants, but that seems to be par for the course. I have heard of good chukar numbers as well. I will be working the opening weekend but will be getting out for the pheasant and duck opener. Hope you get into some birds!
Based on their performance this year, you would probably have a better time bird hunting-even if you didn't see any birds! Rick
Your probably spot on with that one haha
Luckily Ive got the whole season to chase flyers!

Let us know how you do,
If you ever make it over my way and are looking for another dog and gun in your group, send me a pm, ive got a few good spots!

A friend has leased a number of circles over near O'Sullivan dam. He tells me he sees quail every time he is out there--I will probably head over next week and will let you know how it goes....

Same experience as Gary

Lots of late hatches and smaller birds beginning of season. I have been taking 1-2 birds from coveys this year and trying to avoid females. See how they fare late season

Same experience with huns. Have not looked for chukars yet
