So, No Lie at all! 75 fish in one day... Started out the day on the bulkhead during high tide, First cast of the day was 3 fish attacking the same popper!!! Finally pulled out the 5 weight with an intermediate tip and a little pink "money fly" and my dad and I got up to speed fast! 17 fish in about an hour and a half. Then, IT DIED!!! we went about 2 hours without so much as seeing a fish or getting a hit. We decided to walk down the beach to another spot we had never fished before, First cast in the new spot and fish on! A eauphasid pattern was doing the trick for a while until it turned off again. at this point we were at 57 in 3 hours! we kept catching the fish until we decided to head up and head out. 75 fish later we were done!!! The worst part of the whole thing was our encounter with the sea lion! He came up and made a gawd awful noise and sent me back tracking! He scared off all the fish but we had a great time watching them all come back and hit anything we through at them! All in all the most fun day of fishing the salt I have EVER had!!! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Holy crap. Great day indeed. With that large sampling how big are they and are they getting good and fat on abundant local food?

Hrm... I was expecting my cell to ring last night to let me know if grandma had an extra parking spot for me there. Not that I ever would have asked, but merely responding to your offer. Glad you did well.

If you were fishing the spot we were talking about, I drove by you. I was in the red boat. I did pretty good once I found some pods. Had 3 doubles. I love that!
You got a lot more than me today. Good work!
I'm going out tomorrow in the boat again.

I went out and got about 20 fish in about an hour and a half. Most were taking tiny very sparse Euphausid. Got a few boils on a gurgler.

A fish every 6 minutes. It is very possible right now.

i'd say more could be possible... like every two or three minutes. Heck, doubles every two or three minutes...

Counting fish, what a waste of time. I thought that getiting out was the main thing. But counting fish. No way. I guess that now you can call it catching instead of just fishing.

    I agree with Old Man...

I don't count. Just backing these guys up. Probably not consistently for 4 hours, but it can get pretty hot out there. Almost annoying really. It's not a challenge at that point.

Great numbers, but I value the day more than the result. I can recall a few days of silvers in a bay and chum in a couple of rivers that I caught a bunch of fish and left the water exhausted after so many great hookups and battles. No idea how many, but after a constant string of 10-15lb chum and the long time to land some of them the day was great even if I don't know the tally. Generally I'm hoping for one...

Agree with "old man Jim" . The enjoyment and challenge of fly fishing is not about fish "counts".
