Rod blemish/scratch repair (or not)

#1
I acquired a beautiful looking Powell 5wt Edge that has a scratch/scrape. It is about 1" long, 3/8" wide, maybe a bit larger. No structural damage, rather, it's just... scraped a bit on the surface. Looks like someone brushed it up against something. It's a cosmetic issue.

Question: first, is it worthwhile even trying to "make it look better" ? I have some PermaGloss but don't want to make an otherwise nice looking rod a basketcase with a small patch job.

Opinions and advice sincerely appreciated.

Depending on how deep it is you might try this. I use Mcquires very fine auto polish to to remove fine scratches in rods. Understand the finish if much thinner than on a car, so be careful and do not use to much pressure or polish very long. Then I put a little Mcguires wax over the top. Gives a nice shine to the rod, dust and dirt do not stick to the rod and UV protection. Surface scratches disappear usually. If the scratch is down into the blank will not help.
