Recent Boat Capsized on the Klickitat

#1
On Oct 25th a couple of our guides came upon "sunk boat" between Stinson and the Slide. There was gear strewn about and instead of leaving it for potential pilferage, they collected what they could. The boat was a newer Clackacraft high side in blue and white colors.

If anyone knows who the gear belongs to...Please have them call my personal cell at 509-859-2280.

Miller (or anyone else),

Any info on how it happened? I am far from experienced, and was curious. Were your buddys experienced? not paying attention? or not experienced and ran across a tough spot? How much fear should run through my bones, if I run that section? I have floated it with a buddy, and seemed ok, but I wasn't on the oars, and read here, that it was no biggy except one spot.

I have rowed from slide to 5.5 and have been fine, with a couple spots to be particularly careful, not too crazy. That said, I am still not 100% dialed and full of confidence (probably will always have some level of fear no matter how long I row, out of respect).

Thanks,
willis

Willis - was my boat. A friend of mine was on the sticks (clearly shouldn't have been). Its nothing too hairy - we just bumped a sweeper and a knot of the tree branch locked us up. Its not a very tough spot.

Thanks for the info. Glad everyone is ok, and you got some gear back (from the sounds of it).

I will continue to feel confident about my rowsmanship, and stay away from everything.

Thanks for sharing. I think this is a good reminder for all of us to be cautious and not trust our buddies when they say, "hey, that looks fun, lemme try..."

Glad everyone was safe!
