My oldest boy has been fly fishing all summer trying to get a pig bass on the long rod.
I personally do not fly fish for bass with a fly rod anymore in lakes as it has a lot of disadvantages compared to fishing conventional.
My boy has caught multiple 2-3 lb largies and smallies on the fly but not as many as I have or any real large ones like I do on conventional gear. So he wanted to show Dad up and was very persistent in trying. Well Sunday his pig came to hand in the form of a 6.65lb smallmouth bass (weighed with the calibrated scale I use when culling out of my live well for fishing tournaments) caught on a popper. Good job Son...:thumb:
