Lately there have been a few people noting through various channels that they are being blocked from accessing the site. We're working on this but I need their assistance. I need their IP address. Have them go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and email me that IP.

fyi - The issue is the servers firewall not liking something running on the forum software. Occasionally it sees us using a normal function of the forum but has a problem with it and puts your IP address into a blocked list to protect itself. One of these types of issues has already been found and fixed. Trying to find the other similar issue.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Thanks, Chris. I e-mailed your post to Silvercreek. He was experiencing the problem you mentioned.

Just go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and email Chris the number that you see displayed there.

With the latest round of IP's forwarded along we were able to identify the rule that was triggering some false positives. The rule was removed and the firewall block list was cleared. So Ive, or anyone else who had been experiencing this issue, no need for your IP any longer as this should be resolved.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Well, it was sure 7 days of weirdness. I couldn't even Goggle the board as a lurker and get the site to come up. I could go down to my neighbors house and log in with no problem. but come home and neither my laptop or desktop could gain access. Then I took my laptop to the phone company office and again was able to log on immediately. but at home-nothing. I contacted tech support and they used my name and password to get in so I knew I hadn't been parked but was baffled how my router could selectively eliminate just one site. Thanks to Roper for getting the ball rolling for me-I couldn't even contact Chris to let him know I had a problem.

I probably spent a good 10 hours doing everything I could think of-twice since I know so little-and tore out much of my already thinning hair. Glad to have a happy ending.

Thought it was just my home network on my work PC. It was never a problem at work or even on my phone via my home network. Weird.

Thanks Chris, I am back online.

Here's how I was knocked off.

I posted a long reply on casting. My first post was rejected as too long. So I cut it in half and that was rejected. So I tried a third time and when I sent the third try, I was locked out.

I think the server is set to reject repeated attempts to post as spam and it locks out the IP address.

Was there a problem?? I live in a Third World Country and I never noticed any slow down in service. Good to know that it was all taken care of.

Nice work. False positives are among the hardest to run down.
