Hi - I'm going to be visiting San Diego next month and wanted to give surf fising a try. Been reading up on the RIO 26 DC striper fly line to buy, but not sure what grain would fit well with a Sage Z Axis 7 weight? Does anyone own this fly line and give some advice?

i guess it depends on the 7weight. i used that line a lot back on the chesapeake bay for stripers and threw it on my 8 weight (st croix legend elite) and it was perfect.i feel like it might be a touch heavy for a 7, but that's just me.

250 sounds right. you could go heavier if you were boat fishing and could water load the backcast... but 250 is right on the money for a 7 wt.
