I got a new catalog yesterday from Feather Craft and noticed a line of rods from an unfamiliar manufacturer.

The Albright A5 line is a series of 5-piece rods starting with a 8' 2wt and moving up in length and line weight, all for just $195 each including a cordura case. Has anyone tried one or know anything about them?

Oh yeah I tried one ! and I am saving my pennies Cause I am definitely going to get one. the Guy who started this company was the one who used to own that company that Sage just bought what was that reddington? anyway you want a quality rod that is the one to go for. First thing I notice was the oversized ferrules. they cast like a dream. and the price couln't be more right.

Fly anglers online has a product review on Albright rods you might find informative.

Steve: Where did you find one to test cast?

Pete: Thanks for the tip. Good review by FAOL.

The sub-$200 price point rod market is becoming a real war zone. Looks like this could be another competitor for TFO.

Yep, Jim Murphy is the guy that started Redington and now runs Albright. After Sage bought Redington and decided to fire him, he hired the same third party rod manufacturer in Korea to make rods for his new company, Albright.
