I was thinking about doing a backpacking trip to an alpine lake. Does anyone know at what elevations there will be snow, and if the lakes will still be frozen. I was possibly thinking of trying one in the levenworth area, but am willing to try anywhere that its not iced over.

Generally, anything in the Cascades below 5000' will be open now. On some west and southern aspects, up to 6000' and above could be open. Check www.wta.org website for trail reports in specific areas. Some protected north aspect lakes could still be frozen, but not many.
I was at Larch lakes (Entiat river drainage) this past weekend, at 5800 feet. The lakes were ice free with small amount of snow here and there around the shore.
