My fishing buddy kept a resident silver for the dinner table and was amazed to find approximately 50 black carpenter ants(with wings) and some lady bugs in the fish's stomach. This guy must have thought that he was a freshwater rather than saltwater fish. Have heard of steelhead having cigarette butts and twigs in their stomachs.

We saw a few small insects skiddering on the water surface. Must have been the carpenter ants but never saw any fish nail them.

Will have to try out some trout fly patterns for resident silvers in the saltchuck :) .

I sure never would've guessed. That is interesting.
