I have`nt used or seen that rod , but if it`s anything like Gary`s 1204-3 , it will be great . Light weight , full flex . I don`t use mine for high-sticking , I prefer to swing soft-hackles , small muddlers , stonefly nymphs etc . I have mine lined up with an Airflow 40+ , straight floater , to which I`ll sometimes add a sinking poly leader . I`m going to be trying a 4/5 Rio AFS head on it this year , as well as a SA single-hand Skagit line . It`s enough rod to easily handle 5lb. plus fish , but does`nt overpower the more typical 14-16 inch fish I get on the Thompson .
BTW ... my rod is actually two rods , as it comes with two butt sections . It will convert to a 9ft. , 4 weight single-hander , as well as being a 12ft. , 3 weight spey .
And it is the one rod I won`t give up for love or money .
