I don't know what brand to choose for my 8 weight fly rod :beathead:

I actually cast a Airflo Ridge Distance (old model) but I don't like the "feeling" (not strech at all)

I had the Mastery Steelhead in the past...great fly line but...I need your opinion about the Rio Steelhead.

Since I purchased the Rio Gold for my 5 weight Z-Axis, I want to make the switch to Rio...but for my salmon rod...

    Opinions?

They are both long belly wf flylines. You cant go wrong with either.

As far as I know the rio steelhead line only comes in "BRIGHT YELLOW" I just could not see fishing with this bright of line . The s.a. steelhead is a nice soft light green and an awesome line . but I have not fished the rio one yet , don't need to - the s.a. line does it all !

It's bright yellow for sure.... I use it and like. Nice long belly, killer mends, floats well.

I use Mastery Steelhead lines in 7 and 8 weights. Like them very much. Have tried the Rio but prefer the SA. Color is better and the Rio line seems to have more memory which I don' t like. Matter of preference. You can't go wrong with either as has already been said.

I use the SA. I tried it first. I liked it. I stuck with it. Reluctant to experiment a whole lot when lines run 60-80.00 a pop. This in no way helped you with your request regarding rio line.

I also use and like the Rio Atlantic Salmon and Steelhead line. If you plan to single hand spey cast, it takes more work than some of the lines designed specifically for that purpose.
