    I agree that the western Washington char look like Dolly Varden however genetic sampling from a variety of basin have consistently found except for some headwater populations in spite of their looks the fish are indeed bull trout. If one were to watch them make a living it is clear that not only are theygenetically bull trout they have that "in your face" bull trout atitude.

    In the Skagit basin the occurence of those larger bull trout (30 inches and larger) is more common than most of us would have thought. During snorkel surveys of staging pre-spawn adults 30 inch fish were seen more frequently than what is commonly seen in our catches.
