Thanks to one of our sponsor's end of year blow out sale, I now have a Beulah Classic 12' 7" spey rod coming my way and am looking for some advise on what weight Skagit head to use.

I will be using Airflo Ridge 30 lb. floating running line and a 10ft. sinking tip. I would really like to hear from you if you have/had this rod and what weight Skagit head you would recommend.

    Thanks in advance.

Email the guys at Beulah, they will tell you. Generally you can find their recs on their homepage as well.

Around 500 or 525 give or take is about right on that one for Skag. Which is what Beulah recommends. (500) Nice stick.

    29Guy,

I have that rod. It's decidedly more of an 8 than a 7 wt. I use a 550 Rio Skagit, 27' beer can classic on it. And I generally tend toward the lighter side when it comes to line weights. So don't be afraid of 550 grains.
