Here is an older Lee Wulff pattern that the fish and I enjoy. I fish it for steelhead just like a spey or hairwing early in the Fall. It displays a nice profile, with just a bit of flash and contrast.

    Tag: silver tinsel
    Tail: golden pheasant tippet
Rib: silver oval tinsel (not in original pattern)
Body: black floss ( I used a flat pure silk chenille)
    Throat: white moose hair
    Wing: black moose hair
    Wing top: black bear hair

Did he learn that from the Newfies? Very "rustic atlantic salmon". Graceful head for a hair wing/hackle fly. Beautiful.

Great fly and welcome to the board. Yeah, it's me.
