Found this on a NZ site; don't know much about Kiwi bugs but it looked cool.

    hook - Dai Riki 320 #10
    thread - MFC 8/0 olive/UTC 140 tan
    tail - golden pheasant tippets
    rib - x-fine wire gold
    body - dubbing olive
body hackle - brown (undersize by 2)
    wing - deer hair
    head - deer hair (spun/clipped)

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, tie in rib and wrap to point above barb

measure some pheasant tippets (2/3 shank); tie in

    dub thread; dub tapered body

tie in hackle; wrap back to tail

trap hackle tip with rib, then wrap rib forward thru hackle; tie off and trim thread

re-start with 140; clean, stack, measure (half way back on tail) a clump of deer; tie in
    [IMG]
trim tips on another clump of deer; spin
    [IMG]
repeat; half hitch x 2, SHHAN
    [IMG]
    trim head to shape
